Valentine’s Day tends to steal the show in February, but love isn’t the only thing worth chasing this month. Savvy shoppers can find some attractive price cuts during Presidents Day and end-of-season sales.
“For many budget-friendly consumers looking for bargains, February is definitely a month with under-the-radar offers,” says Clay Cary, senior trends analyst at coupon code website CouponFollow.
If you love a good deal, these are the eight best things to buy in February.
Bicycles
If you resolved to exercise more this year, biking can be a low-impact way for older adults to stay active. Fortunately, February is one of the best times to find a deal on a new bike, according to CouponCabin’s Coupon Clock, a tool that helps shoppers time purchases based on the deal website’s historical savings data.
“While much of the country is covered in snow this time of year, cyclists know that a smart time to prepare for a great summer ride is during the winter,” says Melanie Lowe, CouponCabin's chief savings strategist. That’s because retailers respond to low seasonal demand for bicycles by slashing prices.

Potential savings: 25 to 55 percent off
Flowers
Saying “I love you” with a dozen red roses on Valentine’s Day can set you back a pretty penny. After all, it’s no secret that flower prices tend to surge in February. But with the petal price hikes come special discounts that can help ease the strain on your wallet.
“While Valentine's Day demand can increase flower prices, many retailers offer February-only promo codes, delivery incentives and cash-back opportunities,” says Stephanie Carls, a retail analyst at coupon and cash-back offers website RetailMeNot. “For shoppers who plan ahead and stack those offers, they can still score competitive prices.” And if you’re an AARP member, you can take advantage of 25 to 30 percent discounts from some florists.
