If you're in the market for a new mattress, you might have considered Nectar. The company is known for its memory foam beds — which have a dense, memory-foam feel that contours to the body — at often-discounted prices. And it also now offers hybrid mattresses, which include memory foam layers and individually-wrapped coils. Based on our testing with older adults, we’ve found the brand's mattresses provide a combination of helpful support and pressure relief.

So what’s driving today’s shoppers? In 2025, we conducted a survey of 300 adults ages 50 and older. We learned 75 percent of respondents who purchased a Nectar mattress within the last three years valued overall comfort — the highest of any other factor. Nearly 92 percent of respondents who have a Nectar Bed said they were happy with their purchase.

If you’re interested in a bed from Nectar but still have questions, we’re here to help. Our lab team tested more than 30 mattresses, including five models from Nectar, and consulted our focus group of testers ages 50-plus to find the best options.

Read on to see our breakdown of the best Nectar mattresses. (All models tested were queen size unless otherwise noted.)

Comparing Nectar models

What we like about Nectar

Nectar is a popular online mattress company known for its comfortable memory foam mattresses available in hybrid and all-foam options. It’s also known for its generous policies, such as a 365-night trial and lifetime warranty. It offers four mattress tiers: Classic, Premier, Luxe and Ultra. All-foam models (which are made of memory foam) and hybrid models (which are made of memory foam and individually-wrapped coils) are available at each tier. There are price differences across tiers and within each tier, depending on the construction you choose.

In our testing, all Nectar beds received high scores for motion isolation. Each bed offers a sinking, contouring feeling of memory foam without leaving you feeling “stuck” in the bed. This high-level performance can be helpful for couples who share a bed and want to minimize how much they feel their partner tossing and turning.

Memory foam typically retains heat, which can be a drawback for people who sleep hot. But this brand’s mattresses feature “cooling fibers woven directly into the cover[s],” which we evaluated with our cooling gun test, which measures how quickly heat dissipates. This test involves using a thermal gun to measure the mattress’s neutral temperature, then the temperature after one of our testers has rested on the bed for one minute.

Nectar mattresses range in price by model and tier, from $1,548 to $3,316. The brand frequently offers deals throughout the year, particularly around holidays, that slash prices by more than half. For example, the Nectar Premier Memory Foam — also our top pick for the best overall mattress in our roundup of the 10 best beds of 2026 — often is priced at less than $1,000 for a queen during the company’s sales.

Excellent spinal support and pressure relief. While lying on her side, tester Donna, a 60-year-old side and back sleeper, gave it a near-perfect score for spinal alignment. “I don't feel any pressure building up anywhere in particular,” she said. That’s likely because the Nectar Premier Memory Foam features a 3-inch support foam layer in the middle, topped with a layer of “pressure-relieving” foam. Poor alignment can lead to morning stiffness, nerve irritation and shoulder or neck pain over time, says Dr. John Hinson, an orthopedic surgeon at Palm Beach Orthopaedic Institute in South Florida. But this bed helps promote spinal alignment in any position and cushions pressure points, which is crucial for minimizing stress on the spine, shoulders and hips.

Excellent motion isolation. This bed earned a perfect score for motion isolation. Our lab tester reported “very good motion isolation all around, both when I was changing positions and rolling around near the edge of the mattress.” It has multiple layers of foam, including 8 inches of foundational foam, to prevent motion transfer. Minimizing motion transfer is preferable if you share the bed with a partner who tosses and turns at night. “I would definitely recommend this for couples,” our lab tester said.

Not wallet-friendly. Nearly 80 percent of the older adults we surveyed had a budget of $2,000 or less for their new mattress. A queen-size Nectar Premier Memory Foam retails for $2,249, giving it an average score (3 out of 5) for affordability. This bed earned a middling score in our bounce test, which measures how quickly it responds to movement. It only bounced 15.5 inches. The sinking memory foam layers of this bed absorb movement and are slower to snap back into place than those of a hybrid bed with coils.

Key takeaways from our testing

Flexes well on an adjustable base. Allison, a 51-year-old tester and side sleeper, found the Nectar Classic Hybrid conformed well on an adjustable base. “There were no gaps where the base was folding, and the bottom did not lift off the base when it was in the zero-gravity position,” she said, referring to the position that elevates head and feet to closely simulate weightlessness. Our lab team gave this bed a top-level rating or adjustability and material quality. Allison described the soft mattress cover as having “a jersey-like feel" to it. "It’s very comfortable,” she said.

Helps promote spinal alignment. The Nectar Classic Hybrid is a medium-firm mattress. It’s Nectar’s firmest option, which can help prevent spinal misalignment for back sleepers who prefer firmer surfaces. In our spinal alignment testing, it earned an average rating. A medium-firm mattress best suits most older adults, says Hinson, the orthopedic surgeon. “It can help maintain [spinal] alignment while reducing stress on sensitive areas like the shoulders and hips,” he says. That said, our testers determined this bed had some subpar performance for pressure relief, earning mediocre scores for side sleeping (2.5 out of 5) and back sleeping (2 out of 5). It earned a satisfactory rating (3 out of 5) for stomach sleeping.

Stellar cooling performance. Hybrid beds tend to be slightly cooler than all-foam mattresses because the coils inside allow for more airflow. The Nectar Classic Hybrid earned a perfect score in our cooling gun test. One minute after the heat source was removed, the mattress's surface temperature was up 12.9 degrees from the starting point — below the average 15.8 degrees that we observed across all Nectar beds we tested.

Subpar edge support. When we averaged their scores, our testers gave its edge support a mediocre rating (2 out of 5) for edge support — the lowest rating on this measure among the Nectar beds we tested. To test this, our older adult testers sit and lie on the edge of the bed and rate the edge's security and structure under their weight. “I feel like there is actually no edge here at all,” said tester Allison. “You have to use your legs more [to get up], which I think someone with mobility issues would have a big problem with.” If you need solid edge support for extra leverage, consider the Nectar Premier Memory Foam, which earned a respectable 4 out of 5 in our edge support tests.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Affordably priced
  • Above-average spinal support
  • Dampens movement well

Cons

  • Poor cooling performance
  • Average edge support

Features

  • Type: Memory foam
  • Firmness: Medium firm to firm
  • Best sleeping positions: Back and stomach

Key takeaways from our testing

Very good value and satisfactory support. The Nectar Classic Memory Foam garnered a high score (4 out of 5) for affordability. Retailing at just over $1,500 for a queen — the least-expensive of the brand’s offerings — the brand frequently discounts this mattress to $650 throughout the year. It is a medium-firm bed that, on average, earned a decent spinal support score on average (3.33 out of 5). Tester Donna said, “I feel like my weight is evenly distributed, and the mattress is doing a great job of filling in all the areas. My lower back has really great support.”

Absorbs movement. Our lab tester gave this mattress a perfect rating in the couple’s motion isolation test, which involved her lying on one side of the mattress wearing a blindfold while another member of our lab team made a series of controlled movements on the other side. One lab tester said there was minimal motion transfer across the bed. “I could feel some motion on the side of my body closest to my partner, but that was about it,” she said, adding there was no noticeable motion when getting in and out of bed. If you’re a light sleeper who easily wakes up to your partner’s movements at night, this is a helpful feature.

Retains heat and loses firmness at the edges. Unlike its hybrid counterpart, the Nectar Classic Memory Foam had a weak performance (1 out of 5) on the cooling gun test. If you’re a hot sleeper looking for a cooling memory foam option, check out Nectar’s Luxe Memory Foam. The mattress also disappointed in our subjective tests for edge support, earning a subpar score (2.5 out of 5) on average from testers. Donna said her body felt like it was “angled toward the ground” when lying on the edge of this bed. Interestingly, our objective tests had different results. When we placed a 150-pound sandbag on the edge and measured how much it sank, we saw only 2.5 inches of compression. This earned a perfect score on this objective measure.

Nectar Luxe Hybrid: Best for Side Sleepers

Score: 8.5 out of 10

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Offers above-average pressure relief for side sleepers
  • Respectable cooling performance
  • Solid motion isolation for couples

Cons

  • Hard to move around on the bed
  • Expensive

Features

  • Type: Hybrid
  • Firmness: Medium soft
  • Best sleeping positions: Side

Key takeaways from our testing

Deep pressure relief for side sleepers. When lying on her side, Donna noted, “I [normally] would like a pillow between the knees, but it doesn't feel like I need one. I feel good and really balanced. No areas of discomfort.” The impressive (4 out of 5) pressure relief score for side sleepers indicates the Nectar Luxe Hybrid provides a lot of pressure relief at the shoulders and hips, which is beneficial for side sleepers. Additionally, this bed earned an above-average (4 out of 5) score in our cooling gun test. It only retained 13.9 degrees of introduced heat, only 2.9 degrees more than the bed with the best Nectar cooling performance, the Luxe Memory Foam.

Good option for couples. This bed earned a favorable rating (4 out of 5) in our couple’s motion isolation test. For this measure, Donna found the motion wasn’t disruptive at all. “I thought I would be more affected by her tossing and turning, but it was more of a minor awareness,” she said, “If I were sleeping, I wouldn't have noticed it.”

Disappointing bounce. The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is not responsive and earned a poor rating (1 out of 5) in our bounce test, which involves dropping a 15-pound ball and recording its rebound height. The bed bounced 11 inches, significantly below the 17-inch average of all beds we tested for this list. This lack of responsiveness can make you feel more “stuck” in the bed’s layers. If you prefer a bouncier surface for switching positions and getting out of bed, consider the Nectar Classic Hybrid, which has an average bounce score because of the coil layer.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Exceptional cooling
  • Isolates motion well
  • Solid edge support

Cons

  • Expensive
  • May be not be ideal for back and stomach sleepers

Features

  • Type: Memory foam
  • Firmness: Medium soft
  • Best sleeping positions: Side

Key takeaways from our testing

Superb cooling. The Nectar Luxe Memory Foam has a cooling cover and earned a perfect score during our cooling gun test, which is especially impressive since memory foam tends to trap body heat. A minute after the heat source was removed, the mattress surface registered 11 degrees above the starting temperature — the lowest heat retention of the Nectar beds we tested and one of the lowest for beds we tested overall. It also garnered an impressive score (4 out of 5) on both of our motion isolation tests.

Strong edge support. The Nectar Luxe Memory Foam earned an above-average rating (4 out of 5) in our edge support tests. Mattress edges with strong support help provide a stable surface for sitting or transitioning in and out of bed, which reduces the risk of falling. “For patients with balance issues or limited leg or shoulder strength, that added stability can significantly improve independence and safety,” he says. In our assessments, 50-year-old tester Toni felt the edge of this bed was very secure. “I didn't need to use my hands for balance or support,” she said. “For patients with balance issues or limited leg or shoulder strength, that added stability can significantly improve independence and safety,” he explains.

May be too soft for back and stomach sleepers. Toni, a side sleeper who has mild back pain, said her lower back and spine felt uncomfortably curved while lying on her stomach. She gave this bed a middling score for spinal alignment for stomach and back sleepers, and only a 2.5 out of 5 for pressure relief for back sleepers. So if you’re a stomach sleeper, or a back sleeper who likes more spinal support, consider the Nectar Classic Memory Foam, which is slightly firmer. “Neutral spinal alignment helps to cut down on strain on surrounding muscles, ligaments, and tendons, as well as on the joints between the bones of the spine itself,” says Dr. Anthony Izzo, sleep neurologist and sleep center medical director at St. Vincent Hospital in Massachusetts.

This bed is Nectar’s most expensive bed on the list at $3,249. That’s $1,000 more than the most affordable bed from this company: the Nectar Premier Memory Foam, which is $2,249.

How much do Nectar mattresses cost?

The Nectar beds we reviewed range from $1,548 to $3,249 for queen-size mattresses before any discounts. The Nectar Luxe Memory Foam is the most expensive bed we tested.

The company’s supportive yet pressure-relieving construction and consumer-friendly policies, including a lifetime warranty, 365-night trial, and free shipping and returns, may make its beds worth the standard retail price, depending on your budget and timeframe.

That said, the company offers heavy discounts throughout the year. So you may want to keep an eye on prices — or time your mattress purchase to holidays such as Memorial Day, Labor Day and Black Friday — as we’ve seen sales that have shaved hundreds of dollars off the retail price.

How we test Nectar beds

For this Nectar review, we put five of the brand's most popular beds through a series of controlled tests. Each test assesses a different performance factor. Our cooling gun test, for example, involves placing a heating pad on the bed for one minute, then measuring how well the bed disperses the introduced heat after a one-minute cool-off period. This is an important metric for hot sleepers looking for cooling relief. Additional tests include our edge support tests, couples' motion isolation test, bounce test and adjustable base compatibility test.

Once we had our objective readings, we recruited more than 15 testers ages 50 and older to share their unbiased perspectives on how the beds felt to them. We asked questions like: How aligned does your spine feel on your side? Do you feel any pressure building in certain areas? For more details, see our mattress testing methodology.

Is a Nectar mattress right for you?

Nectar beds vary in price, firmness level and features, including cooling covers, individually-wrapped coils, and ergonomic support. If you’re considering one of its mattresses, or wondering if one is right for you, ask yourself the following questions.

What position do I sleep in?

If you’re interested in a Nectar bed, your primary sleeping position can help determine your ideal firmness level

In general, side sleepers benefit from softer surfaces for cushioning pressure points, including the shoulders and hips.

Back, stomach and combination sleepers can do well on medium to medium-firm beds, which help provide spinal support without being overly firm.

Strict back sleepers, or those with certain conditions such as lower back pain and sciatica, may prefer medium-firm or firm beds for greater support and minimal sinkage.

The Nectar Premier, for instance, falls in the “sweet spot” medium-firm category. Side sleepers seeking a more plush surface and cushioning for their joints may prefer the Nectar Luxe, which is considered medium soft to medium.

Do you know when it’s time to replace your mattress?

“Waking up with persistent aches, numbness in the arm or shoulder or feeling more tired than when you went to bed can be common signs. If pain improved when sleeping elsewhere or in a reclined position, your mattress may be part of the problem.” —Dr. John Hinson, an orthopedic surgeon at Palm Beach Orthopaedic Institute in South Florida

Do I like the feel of memory foam?

Nectar’s mattresses include layers of dense memory foam that hug your body as it sinks into the bed. Both all-foam and hybrid beds from Nectar feature the sinking feeling of the foam layers. The hybrid options feature the individually-wrapped coil layer for added support. Traditional memory foam tends to retain its shape for a short time after you get up. But based on our testing, the company’s beds are slightly more responsive than many other memory foam mattresses, likely thanks to the layer of responsive support foam.

If you like the feeling of sinking into a bed while still being supported and cushioned, you may enjoy the feel of a memory foam mattress. But this memory foam also can make it more difficult to move around in bed and switch positions. If you want to avoid that “stuck” feeling at all costs, these beds may not be a good fit.

Do I have chronic pain?

Waking up with pain, particularly in the hips, is the most common symptom Izzo, the sleep neurologist, said he sees among his patients who sleep on mattresses that are no longer as supportive as they once were. If you have chronic pain, such as from conditions like sciatica or arthritis, it’s important to keep the spine in neutral alignment when you sleep, according to sleep experts. “This is especially important in older adults, where deep sleep becomes a smaller part of each night's sleep cycle. The lighter sleep that's left is particularly vulnerable to fragmentation from aches and pains, so minimizing strain on the spine translates to a better night's sleep,” explains Izzo.

In our testing, we found that the Nectar Premier Memory Foam relieved pressure on the joints while keeping the spine aligned in all sleeping positions, providing a near-perfect (4.5 out of 5) mix of support and cushioning. And we chose this bed as the best overall for hip pain, shoulder pain and back pain in 2026.

Do I share the bed?

If you share the bed with a pet or partner — especially if you’re a light sleeper or your partner thrashes around — you may want to consider a surface that minimizes movement. Given memory foam’s motion-dampening quality, all of this company’s tested beds perform well in this category. The Nectar Premier Memory Foam earned a perfect score for motion isolation, while the Nectar Classic Hybrid and Nectar Classic Memory Foam each received near-perfect marks (4.5 out of 5).

Do I need strong edge support?

For people with mobility issues or balance concerns who may need extra help getting in and out of bed, edge support is key. “Mattresses with squishy, easily compressible edges make it hard to stand up,” says Izzo. “The extra edge support helps give us leverage to push off from to a standing position after sitting at the edge of the bed.” The Nectar Premier Memory Foam and Luxe Memory Foam performed best in this category out of the Nectar beds we tested and had above-average ratings.

The height of your mattress matters

“A bed that’s too high off the floor increases risk for falls, whereas a bed that’s too low makes it almost impossible for someone with hip, knee or back issues to get up without strain and discomfort. The top of the mattress should fall just below the hip crease when you’re standing next to it.” – Dr. Anthony Izzo, sleep neurologist and sleep center medical director at St. Vincent Hospital in Massachusetts

Do I want a cooling mattress?

If you tend to sleep warm, a mattress that doesn’t retain heat can help. Among the Nectar beds we tested, our lab team found the Nectar Classic Hybrid and Nectar Luxe Memory Foam performed best in the cooling category, each receiving top-tier ratings. But the Nectar Classic Memory Foam retained the most heat, earning it a poor score (1 out of 5).

Do I use an adjustable base — or do I want to?

“Adjustable bed frames can be very helpful for people with back, shoulder or post-surgical issues by allowing head and leg elevation, improving comfort, breathing and independence,” says Hinson, the orthopedic surgeon. If you’re looking for a mattress that works well with an adjustable base, the Nectar Classic Hybrid earned a top-notch score on this measure.

What is my budget?

Knowing your budget can help narrow down the right bed for you. The least expensive queen-size Nectar bed, the Classic Memory Foam, retails for $1,548. But, remember, you may be able to catch it on sale for as low as $649.

If you have a bigger budget, and you prefer a softer mattress, consider the Nectar Luxe at $3,249. Or consider the Nectar Ultra Hybrid, which retails for $3,316 but often is discounted to as low as $2,099.

FAQs

What is the best Nectar mattress?

The Nectar Premier Memory Foam ranked as the highest-scoring Nectar mattress we tested, earning an impressive 9.9 out of 10. It offers excellent motion isolation and cooling, along with a balanced mix of pressure relief and spinal support.
