Store discounts for older shoppers can be a boon for your budget — and some surprising retailers offer them.
Several large retailers, like Kohl’s and Ross Dress for Less, offer discounts to older customers on specific days of the week or month. Other stores offer savings through their loyalty membership programs. Even your local pharmacy might offer a senior discount.
As consumer prices rise with inflation and tariffs, you don’t want to miss out on these opportunities to cut costs. Here are eight retailers that offer discounts for older shoppers.
1. Goodwill
Locations: Over 3,300 stores across North America
One day a week, typically on Tuesday or Wednesday, Goodwill shoppers 55 or older may be eligible for 10 to 30 percent in-store discounts, depending on the location. Not every store participates.
2. Kohl’s
Locations: Over 1,100 stores in every state but Hawaii
On Wednesdays, shoppers 60 or older can snag a 15 percent discount on in-store purchases. Percentage-off coupons can’t be combined with the offer.
3. Michaels
Locations: 1,300 stores in 49 states
Michaels Rewards members 55 or older always get 10 percent off their purchases, including sale items, in stores and online. If you don’t have a Michaels Rewards account, you can still receive a 10 percent discount on in-store purchases by showing proof of age at checkout.
4. PetSmart
Locations: More than 1,660 stores in North America
Customers 65 or older get 10 percent off at PetSmart’s grooming salon every Tuesday. The deal isn’t offered at all locations, so check with your local store.
