Pilates Anytime: Sitting Better

In Class 2 of the 40-minute Pilates series, learn how to improve your breath for better balance

Welcome to this calming, beginner-level Pilates class led by Tom McCook, an instructor for the online streaming platform Pilates Anytime. In this class, you’ll learn to breathe better and improve your posture.

McCook will teach a seated Pilates workout that focuses on improving your posture and energy to help bring balance into each area of your body. He’ll start with a basic overview of the anatomy of your pelvis, then lead you through a series of gentle movements that can help you breathe and sit better. Props that you may want to have on hand: a mat, a chair and a small towel.

Tom McCook is the founder and director of Center of Balance in Mountain View, California, and is an internationally recognized Pilates teacher and movement specialist. Since 1984, McCook has been designing health and life programs for a range of clients, and his mission is to improve people’s lives through movement and understanding their own bodies. He lives on the coast outside San Francisco with his wife and business partner, Karen deMoor.
