In a recent national AARP survey, women 50 and older cited real concerns about the economy and personal finances. As they look to retirement, paying for health care, covering emergencies, and living comfortably in retirement, are the kinds of worries keeping them up at night.
Closer to home, in a story by Mike Moen with Public News Service, AARP North Dakota past volunteer state president Kathi Schwan encouraged those close to retirement to consider how to stay active and supplement their income when they retire. And Jamie Lyell, Social Security program manager for AARP, noted that women need to be especially diligent about their circumstances when filing to receive Social Security.
Lyell will keynote AARP North Dakota’s upcoming Get Ready for Retirement events in Bismarck on March 17, and Fargo on March 19. Schwan will be part of a retiree panel at the Fargo event.
