AARP Smart Driver Safety Courses in New Jersey - Winter 2026

The AARP Smart Driver Course is a driving refresher course that features research-based curriculum. The six-hour course is now the nation’s largest driving refresher course designed for drivers age 50.

The course teaches proven driving techniques to help keep you and your loved ones safe on the road.

Listed below are the Course Objectives of the AARP Smart Driver Course. As a result of completing the course, participants will:

Drive with increased confidence.
Apply research-based safety strategies to reduce the likelihood of having a crash.
Select and use the newest safety and advanced features in vehicles.
Adapt to changes that affect driving ability, including medications, alcohol, and health-related issues.
Make driving decisions considering the links between the driver, vehicle, and road environment.
Safely share the road with other road users.
Evaluate your driving and determine when it may be time to limit driving.
Explore and use other ways to travel.
Use the comprehensive driver aids, checklists, and resources provided.

Below, you'll find the list of New Jersey locations that are offering courses from January through March 2025.

The course is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members. Space is limited, so register now by calling the number that pertains to the location.
