Fraud continues to threaten families across the country — and here in Colorado, the impact is real.
According to the Federal Trade Commission, consumers in Colorado reported $216.5 million in fraud losses in 2024, with impostor scams being the most common.
In response, AARP is taking action this April during Fraud Prevention Month, bringing free in-person and virtual events, workshops, and fraud-prevention resources directly to communities across Colorado.
Spend an evening with AARP Colorado at Rail Yard Gaming + Gastropub—enjoy free duckpin bowling (one game per person as lanes are available), pizza, salad, and one drink ticket (beer, wine, or well cocktail; subject to availability). We’ll share the latest scams hitting Colorado Springs and simple steps to protect your identity and stay safe from scams. Drop in anytime 4pm-7pm MT—this free, 21+ event requires registration. Bring a friend, have fun, and leave with resources that help keep you and your money safe.

Join AARP Colorado for a free Strike Out Fraud pre‑game experience at Coors Field on Sunday, April 19, 2026, before the Colorado Rockies take the field at 1:10 p.m. Drop by the Platte River Picnic Area to connect with AARP staff and partner organizations dedicated to helping you stay safe from frauds and scams. Enjoy complimentary snacks and non‑alcoholic beverages while learning practical, easy‑to‑apply ways to recognize, avoid, and report scams and identity theft.

Scammers are constantly evolving their tactics to target unsuspecting consumers. While adults 50-plus are frequently targeted, fraud affects every generation.
