Denver, Colorado – Erlinda Archuleta has been selected by AARP, the nonprofit organization for people 50 and older, to receive the 2025 AARP Colorado Andrus Award for Community Service, the Association’s most prestigious and visible state volunteer award for community service.

AARP Colorado selected Archuleta for her remarkable service, which has greatly benefited the community, reflected AARP’s vision and mission, and inspired other volunteers. Archuleta’s volunteerism includes advocacy and leadership roles with AARP Colorado, a role on the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee, a stint on the U.S. President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans, and much more. Archuleta is also an advocate for the Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association, as well as for helping Coloradans meet life-sustaining needs like food, housing, and transportation.

The award will be formally presented to Archuleta during a ceremony during AARP’s December 10 year-end celebration.

“This award acts as a symbol to the public that we can all work together for positive social change,” says AARP Colorado State Director Sara Schueneman. “AARP has long valued the spirit of volunteerism and the important contributions volunteers make to their communities, neighbors, and the programs they serve.”

Recipients across the nation were chosen for their ability to enhance the lives of AARP members and prospective members, improve the community in or for which the work was performed, and inspire others to volunteer.
