March may come in like a lion, but when it comes to shopping, it’s less about the roar and more about a reliable stream of deals.
“Rather than big, flashy holiday sales, look for steady, practical discounts as retailers clear out old inventory and make room for new products,” says Courtney Omell, an editor at The Krazy Coupon Lady, a website dedicated to finding coupons and deals.
You’ll see meaningful price drops on a variety of things, from everyday essentials to seasonal items. Get ready to spring into action (forgive the pun) to snag these eight best buys in March.
Cleaning supplies
If you want to get a head start on your spring cleaning, March is a good time to buy the supplies you need at a discount. “Retailers run stock-up sales and bundle offers on disinfecting wipes, sprays, bleach and laundry sanitizers,” Omell says. “We see some of the best Clorox deals this month.”
To maximize your savings, Omell recommends going to several retailers’ websites, adding the items you want to your cart and applying any coupon codes you find to see which retailer has the lowest total price.
Where to look for deals: Amazon, CVS, Target, Walmart
Potential savings: 40 to 70 percent off
Grills and outdoor furniture
Many retailers fire up sales on grills and outdoor furniture in March. “As spring gets near, early-season patio and barbecue gear goes on sale to pique the interest of buyers excited about the grilling season,” says Kyle James, founder of Rather-Be-Shopping.com, a frugal-living website.
In the past, he’s scored significant savings, including $100 off a $400 Blackstone grill at Ace Hardware. Retailers hope that shoppers lured into stores by grill and outdoor furniture sales will buy other warmer-weather items, too, James says.
Where to look for deals: Lowe’s, The Home Depot, Wayfair
Potential savings: 20 to 40 percent off
