A new kind of community event is coming to Cheyenne this fall—one that celebrates not just talent, but the stories and life experiences behind it.
The First Great Revival, happening in October 2026, is a high-energy, feel-good event designed for adults aged 50 and older to rediscover passions, build confidence, and connect with others. Brenda Crawford, AARP Wyoming Volunteer and event lead, says it’s less about being a “perfect performer” and more about showing up, sharing something meaningful, and having fun.
Local residents are invited to apply or be nominated to participate. Talent of all kinds is welcome, including singing, music, comedy, storytelling, and group performances. No prior stage experience is required—and in fact, many participants may be performing for the first time in years.
What sets this event apart is its heart: each performer will be introduced by someone who shares a short story about why that person and their talent matter. The result is an uplifting experience that blends entertainment with real-life connection.
The event is open to the entire Cheyenne community, and AARP membership is not required to participate.
Talent nominations will be accepted May 1–31, with selected performers notified in early August. Around 10–12 individuals or groups will be chosen to take part in the final event.

Whether it’s a hidden talent, a long-lost hobby, or a story waiting to be told, The First Great Revival is a reminder that it’s never too late to step into the spotlight.
