Partnerships in Action: Gratitude Across Wyoming

Partnerships are more than collaboration – they are the foundation of meaningful impact.  When neighbors, nonprofit organizations, volunteers and local leaders come together, we strengthen Wyoming one project at a time.

A Souper Success in Sheridan!  Our recent AARP Souper Bowl food drive in Sheridan really showed the power of working together.  Thanks to generous donors and committed volunteers, the drive collected food to support local families in need. Helping ensure individuals and families have access to nutritious meals during challenging times.

Donations benefited The Salvation Army; The Food Group and this year we included the new food pantry at the Sheridan VA (Veterans Administration Hospital).  The project is in its 10th year.  Over 1,500 pounds of food was collected for these organizations.

This project was a true example of what partnership looks like in action.  From promotion and collection efforts to purchasing, sorting and distribution, every organization and volunteer played an important role.  We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed.

Through AARP Wyoming, we continue to build strong relationships across the state, supporting initiatives that focus on: Caregiver Support, Fraud prevention, Veterans Support and online and offline volunteer engagement opportunities. Many people don’t know it, but you don’t have to be 50 and you don’t have to be a member to participate in AARP offerings! At AARP Wyoming we’re planning 800+ events this year. You can find them as they become available at aarp.org/wyevents and if you miss an event? No problem, you can find the recordings at aarp.org/wyondemand.

For example, a recent online series (Reimagine and Thrive) by Harry Agress, Jr., MD, author of “Next Years, Best Years” well attended by Wyomingites and people across the country. We had 639 registrants! There are upcoming art classes, photography classes, bird watching classes and field trips, six to seven fitness offerings a week, and more! With a staff of just four here at AARP Wyoming, these events would not be possible without the dedication of partners and volunteers who generously share their time, space and expertise.

Our successes are shared successes. Every food donation, every workshop attendee, every volunteer hour reflects the strength of collaboration.

To our partners, volunteers and members across the entire state – Thank You!  Your commitment makes a lasting difference in the lives of Wyoming families.
