One of the things I love most about our work at AARP Wyoming is how fun and creative our outreach program is. We’re consistently recognized as one of the best in the country, and in March, while the weather is still a little sketchy, we’re chock full of brand-new online offerings that you can join from anywhere. Reminder, you don’t have to be 50 to attend or be an AARP member to take part!
This month, we’re rolling out three brand-new online series that blend creativity, brain health, and practical skills. No experience required... Just great programs.
📸 Picture This: iPhone Photography for Everyday Life
Saturdays in March | 10:00–11:30 a.m. MT
This four-week live virtual series is for anyone who wants to take better photos using the iPhone they already own. Whether you’re photographing grandkids, trips, pets, sunsets, or everyday moments, this class is all about confidence and clarity. Led by world traveler and photographer Clifford Pickett, each week builds on the last covering how to take better photos in the moment, improve lighting and composition, edit naturally, organize photos so memories aren’t lost, and share images and stories with others. Classes are live on Zoom in a relaxed, welcoming environment, with recordings, AI summaries, and worksheets included so you can revisit tips anytime.
🩰 Ballet for Beginners
Saturdays in March at 8:00 am 7, 14, 21, & 28
This welcoming four-class series is designed for adults who have always wanted to try ballet but weren’t sure where to start. You’ll learn basic positions, simple movements, and how ballet classes are structured—without pressure or perfection. Each session focuses on organizing your thinking, so learning feels easier and more enjoyable. As the instructor says, it’s a checklist for your memory: what step are we doing, when do we do it, and how do we do it. By the end, participants feel more confident, coordinated, and ready to walk into a drop-in class feeling prepared.
🎨 Mixed Media Art Series
Tuesdays & Thursdays in March | 4:00–5:30 p.m. MT
This four-week creative experience is designed for adults who want to experiment, explore, and grow artistically. Participants work with colored pencils, watercolor, pastels, textured papers wood, beads, glass, and natural elements while learning how to layer materials and combine techniques. Each session includes guided instruction and plenty of time to experiment, along with handouts, supply lists, and weekly instructions.
All classes are free and open to everyone. You can register at aarp.org/wyevents, and if you miss a session, recordings are always available at aarp.org/wyondemand.
None of this happens without people’s power. It takes a strong group of volunteers to keep everything running smoothly, and right now we’re actively recruiting volunteers in Sheridan, Cheyenne, and for virtual roles nationwide.
