CHEYENNE - AARP’s popular Driver Safety Course is back with a slate of nine courses offered out of its state office and the Cheyenne Senior Center. The courses are four hours long, starting at 10 a.m., with a half-hour lunch break included.
The course fee is $20 for AARP members and $25 for nonmembers. That money is a good investment, as most insurance companies offer discounts to those who participate in these courses.
The course is designed to build drivers' confidence by equipping them with research-based safety strategies to reduce their likelihood of crashing. The course covers changes in the vehicles, roads and ourselves and is presented using short videos and reinforced with individual workbooks. The entire course is in the classroom, with no actual driving.
