Join Our Volunteer Team and Help Shape the Future of Outreach in Wyoming
AARP Wyoming is proud to offer one of the nation’s leading outreach programs for adults 50+, with a great mix of in-person and virtual events that engage, educate, and empower Wyomingites to live their best lives.
In the past year, we’ve:
- Hosted a Veterans Resource Fair in Laramie and participated in others in Gillette, Cheyenne, and Dubois
- Delivered the “Care for Caregivers” series in Cheyenne and Sheridan Casper and Newcastle
- Rolled out “Strike Out Fraud” bowling events in Cheyenne
- Grown walking groups and book clubs in Cheyenne and Sheridan
- Provided over 400 free online classes focused on brain health, wellness, and fraud prevention
But here’s the best part: many of these programs were created and led by volunteers just like you. Our “Care for Caregivers” workshops and “Balance Workshops” 100% volunteer-designed and led.
We don’t just ask for help—we invest in your ideas. If you’re passionate about creating an event around fraud prevention, caregiving, veteran support, brain health, or digital connections, we can help fund it and bring it to life. You bring the energy—we’ll provide the support.
Where We Need Help Now
- Cheyenne and Sheridan Event Leaders and Supporters – We’re looking for boots-on-the-ground volunteers to plan and run local events focused on fraud, caregiving, or veteran support.
- Zoom Moderators – Help manage our vibrant online classes by introducing speakers, troubleshooting tech, and keeping the energy up.
- Community Ambassadors – Represent AARP in your hometown by giving short, engaging presentations on topics like decluttering, brain health, fraud prevention, social security or Medicare. Report back monthly on what’s happening in your community and how AARP can help.
We offer training, mileage reimbursement, meals, and plenty of flexibility. You can give one hour a month—or lead your own project. It’s entirely up to you.
What Makes a Great Volunteer? We’re looking for people who are:
- Fun and love connecting with others
- Creative and excited to try new ideas
- Responsible and follow through on commitments
- Driven to make a difference
- Reliable and community-minded
- Curious about health, tech, and social impact
- Passionate about issues like fraud prevention or caregiver support
