AARP DC’s volunteer advocacy team helped prevent cuts to two programs that had been on the chopping block in the recently passed fiscal 2024 city budget.
Among the programs the mayor had slated for budgetary rollbacks:
The D.C. Senior iPad program, which provides eligible older adults with refurbished iPads, was also funded at the level AARP DC had pushed for.
Volunteers pressed District Council members to leave funding for those programs intact in next year’s budget, which the D.C. Council approved in May.
