New Administration Tells AARP Social Security Payments Are Protected

Few things are as deeply woven into the fabric of our nation as Social Security. For over eight decades, this bedrock program has offered economic security and dignity to millions of retirees, people with disabilities, and surviving spouses and children. It is a sacred promise between the government and the American people who pay in and earn their Social Security over a lifetime of hard work.

AARP knows you work hard and pay into Social Security, so it's only fair for you to expect to get the money you've earned. The new administration has reassured AARP that Social Security payments will be protected.

VIRGIN ISLAND statistics:

  • Over 22,000 Virgin Islanders receive Social Security.
  • Over 18,000 Virgin Islanders 65-plus collect Social Security benefits.

AARP will continue to fight for and advocate on the issues that matter most to older Americans. Read more at our story with our Senior Vice President of Government Affairs.
