AARP Vermont: 2025 Year in Review

As 2025 comes to a close, AARP Vermont is proud to reflect on a year marked by meaningful progress, community engagement, and advocacy victories that improve the lives of older Vermonters and their families. Here’s a look at some of the highlights that defined our work this year:

Connecting Across Vermont

  • 192 Events: From workshops to community gatherings, we hosted nearly 200 events across all 14 counties, ensuring that resources and opportunities reached every corner of the state.
  • 1,500 Vermonters Protected: Our fraud prevention efforts delivered critical resources to over 1,500 individuals, helping to safeguard their financial security.

Empowering Volunteers

More than 50 dedicated volunteers amplified our mission by presenting at conferences, serving on advisory boards, reviewing grant applications, and more. Their commitment remains the backbone of our success.

Community Engagement & Placemaking

  • 8 Housing Events: Advancing conversations and solutions for affordable housing.
  • 7 Group Bike Rides & 9 Walk Audits: Promoting active, livable communities.
  • 7 Community Challenge Grants & 8 Winter Placemaking Grants: Supporting creative projects that make Vermont towns vibrant and inclusive.

Celebrating Milestones

We proudly marked Social Security’s 90th Anniversary, reaffirming our commitment to protecting this vital program for generations to come.

Policy Wins for Vermonters

AARP Vermont championed legislation that became law in 2025, including:

  • Housing Choice & Affordability (S.127 – Act 69)
  • Protection from Fraud (H.137 – Act 23)
  • Invest in Long-Term Care (H.13 – Act 14)
  • Expand Transportation (H.488 – Act 43)
  • Tax on Social Security (S.51 – Act 71)
  • Medical Debt Relief (S.27 – Act 21)
  • Access to Unpaid Leave (H.461 – Act 32)

These victories reflect our ongoing advocacy for financial security, health care access, and livable communities.

Looking Ahead

2025 was a year of action, collaboration, and impact. As we enter 2026, AARP Vermont remains committed to empowering older adults, strengthening communities, and driving positive change throughout the state.

Thank you to our volunteers, partners, and members for making these successes possible. Together, we’re building a Vermont where everyone can thrive.
