The Public Service Commission (PSC) recently ruled to significantly limit Rocky Mountain Power's proposed rate hike to 4.7% for single-family residences and 3.77% for multi-family residences. (The hard work of our members is even mentioned in the ruling on page 173!)

The Original Proposal
Rocky Mountain Power initially proposed a hefty 30.5% rate increase over two years. This would have meant a substantial rise in utility bills for many Utahns, with an estimated increase of $288 per year for single-family residences.Robert, Utah
The PSC's Decision
However, the PSC listened to the voices of the community and ruled in favor of consumers. The rate increase has been set at a much more manageable 4.7% for single-family residences and 3.77% for multi-family residences. This translates to an average bill increase of approximately $52 per year for single-family homes and $40 per year for multi-family homes—far better than the initial proposal.Vic, Utah

AARP Utah, for example, collected 2,114 comments and 982 petitions from concerned Utahns worried about the impact of Rocky Mountain Power's proposed rate increase. These were then hand delivered to the committee during a hearing on the rate hike.
