Want to Improve Your Community? AARP Community Challenge Grant Applications Due March 4
What is the AARP Community Challenge Grant Program?
Most Americans want to stay in their communities for their lifetime, and they need those communities to be ready.
That’s why AARP again is hosting the annual AARP Community Challenge grant program. In its eighth year, this program provides grants to fund quick-action projects that can help make a community more comfortable and safe for people of all ages.
Through March 4th, the AARP Community Challenge is accepting applications from eligible non-profit organizations and local governments. It’s quick and easy to apply!
Community Improvements Nationwide
Since 2017, AARP has invested over $16.4 million in community improvements across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Communities of all sizes have benefited from these investments, including:
- Laramie, Wyoming where a donated bus was converted into an accessible greenhouse in their community garden.
- Munich, North Dakota, an under-staffed, nonprofit grocery store used AARP’s grant funds to transform into a self-service store to address food insecurity in their rural community.
- A nonprofit in Saint Louis, Michigan set up a public computer lab and expanded access to high-speed internet for veterans, military service members and their families.
