Thank you for joining AARP Oregon andd Age-Friendly Oregon champions from around the state on October 10th and 11th in Monmouth for Toward Our Shared Future: Age-Friendly Oregon Summit 2023. Over 200 participants, including elected officials, policy makers, city staff, community, business, philanthropy and nonprofit leaders, advocates and interested Oregonians, gathered to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and spark new solutions so more people can choose how they live as they age.

AGE-FRIENDLY COMMUNITY DAY

Hosted by Western Oregon University and Cities of Independence and Monmouth. Age-Friendly Community Day offered community events and activities curated by our host committee. Agenda included:

  • Monmouth Chamber of Commerce members learned about how to Become an Age-Friendly Business.
  • Monmouth Senior Community Center hosted a special lunch and listen session to get community input in designing an Age-Friendly Mural.
  • Film Maker Cynthia Stone and Governor's Commission on Senior Services Chair and OHSU Assistant Professor of Neurology and Public Health Walter Dawson, PhD, joined the host committee for the Oregon premiere of Keys Names Bags Words, a documentary about Alzheimer’s featuring Dr. Dawson. The next screening of the film will be in Portland on Nov 14th hosted by OHSU Brain Institute. Register here.
