Tell Your Lawmakers: Protect Oklahomans from Higher Utility Bills Caused by Data Centers

Utility rates continue to surge across the state, and Oklahomans are being pushed to the brink. Many are already forced to choose between essential needs like food, medication and heating or cooling their homes.

At the same time, data centers are expanding rapidly to support artificial intelligence and online services. Data centers often operate 24/7 and require as much power as small cities. To keep up with the demand, Oklahoma utility companies are upgrading their electricity infrastructures and want to pass the costs along to you.

The Data Center Consumer Ratepayer Protection Act of 2026, HB 2992, ensures that massive electricity users like large data centers pay their fair share of the infrastructure costs required to power their facilities, rather than shifting those expenses onto Oklahoma families, older adults, and small businesses.

Please tell your state representative to support HB 2992 and ensure Oklahomans are not left paying for the energy demands of facilities like data centers.
