Older voters decide elections

In 2020 and 2022 voters 50 and older made up the majority of voters. We break down the demographics.

One-third of North Dakotans are 50 or older. In the United States as a whole, that number is a 119 million, and this mighty group is the voting majority in every election. In the 2020 North Dakota election more than 53% of voters were over age 50, and in the 2022 North Dakota election that number was even higher at 61%.

AARP is making sure that candidates understand who these voters are and, more importantly, understand their concerns. Read on for a breakdown of older voters om 2022.

Your voice is your vote, and AARP ND is fighting to ensure candidates know what matters to voters 50+. Learn more about when, where and how to vote in 2024.
