AARP Missouri Champions Caregiving in State's 103rd Legislative Session
Missouri’s 103rd Legislative Session started, Wednesday, January 8, 2025. This is a critical period for lawmakers to introduce, debate, and pass legislation addressing the state’s most pressing issues. The 103rd Missouri Legislative Session presents an opportunity to implement policies that respond to the needs of Missourians, including vulnerable populations such as seniors and individuals with disabilities. Through these sessions, elected representatives ensure government accountability and work to help improve the quality of life for residents.
AARP Missouri will prioritize the following caregiving issues during the 2025 legislative session:
1. Bolstering Support for Family Caregivers
- Efforts include streamlining the application process for the state’s Shared Care Tax Credit and advocating for additional resources and financial aid to assist caregivers.
2. Implementing the 10-Year Master Plan on Aging
- Under development, this plan will address critical needs for a rapidly aging population, focusing on housing, long-term care, transportation, and caregiving resources.
These initiatives, combined with the push to expand the property tax credit, represent a comprehensive approach to improving the well-being of Missourians. Advocates hope this legislative session will bring significant progress in providing financial relief and better support systems for the state’s most vulnerable residents.
