Looking for a way to move more, learn something new, and connect with others? Walk with a Doc brings all three together in about an hour.
AARP Minnesota collaborates with Walk with a Doc to offer free, doctor led‑walks that combine a short health talk with a walk at your own pace.
Walk with a Doc is a community-based walking program that brings people together to take steps toward better health while learning directly from trusted health care professionals. Here are the upcoming dates and what to know before you go.
Walk with a Doc meets on the third Saturday of each month from 9 to 10 a.m. at Richardson Nature Center in Bloomington. The health talk begins at 9 a.m., and the walk typically starts around 9:15 a.m. Register for an upcoming walk:
Each Walk with a Doc event follows a simple format:
There is no pressure to keep up and no set distance. Participants walk or roll at a pace that feels right for them. Comfortable shoes are all you need. These walks are free, open to the public, and hosted in an accessible community location. Whether you come on your own or bring a friend, you are welcome.
Walking is one of the most accessible forms of physical activity, and its benefits go beyond physical health. Walk with a Doc creates space for learning, movement, and connection all at once. Combining light activity with social connection can support overall well‑being, boost mood, and help people stay motivated to keep moving.
Just as important, Walk with a Doc offers a chance to hear directly from healthcare professionals in a relaxed, non‑clinical setting. Participants can ask questions, learn practical tips, and leave with information they can use in everyday life.
Walk with a Doc is a simple way to build movement into your routine while learning from trusted healthcare professionals and meeting others in your community. There is no cost, no special equipment, and no expectation beyond participating in a way that feels comfortable for you.
