Are you ready to turn your lifetime of experience into the experience of a lifetime?

AARP is a non-profit, nonpartisan organization that empowers people to choose how they live as they age. We serve members in Michigan with community outreach programs, fraud prevention education, legislative advocacy and more.

We are always looking for volunteers who want to share their skills, talents, and passion to make their community, and Michigan, a better place.

Advocacy

Our volunteer advocates work with local, state and federal representatives to advance key issues that matter to people aged 50 and older. Our legislative priorities cover financial resilience, health security and making communities livable and accessible for everyone.

Possible activities include:

  • Meeting with, emailing and/or calling legislators to discuss priorities
  • Visiting the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing to rally policymakers during lobby days
  • Sharing your story with policymakers, news outlets, fellow advocates and partner organizations

Possible activities include:

  • Providing on-site event support
  • Hosting or planning local engagement opportunities
  • Handing out resources at expos and exhibits while engaging with community members
  • Presenting to local groups and organizations
