A recent survey from AARP shows 42% of adults - 141 million people - have had money or sensitive information stolen through fraud. Nine in 10 adults now believe fraud can happen to anyone - and the biggest worry they have about fraud is it happening to them.
One of the ways you can protect yourself from identity theft and fraud is to shred your sensitive documents.
By shredding documents like bank statements, credit card offers and tax records, you can prevent criminals from accessing your personal data and potentially using it to commit fraud.
AARP Michigan is hosting a series of free shred days and educational events on fraud to make safeguarding yourself easier than ever.
