A growing body of scientific research, including from the National Institutes of Health, points to reading as a way to improve cognitive health, alleviating depression and reducing stress.
There are many other benefits of reading even beyond these health-related ones. Dr. John Y. Lee, assistant chief clinical officer at Executive Mental Health, says reading can help us develop deeper empathy for others and it can help us process our own feelings.
That's why AARP Michigan hosts the Disrupt Aging Book Club, where we discuss the lighter side of life and topics related to aging! Come for the great conversation and book selections and leave with new friends and experiences.
Use the links below to review the book selections and register for upcoming virtual sessions on the fourth Monday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EST.
