Starting Tuesday January 13th, we will resume our Tuesdays At the Statehouse weekly advocacy events. Join AARP Maine Staff and over a dozen other volunteers as we testify on bills important to older Mainers, listen in on committee deliberations, and mingle with local lawmakers in the halls of the Legislature in Augusta!
This session, there will opportunities to engage at various levels of government on issues such as affordable housing, utilities, healthcare and eldercare, fraud prevention, family caregiving, home and community based services, and much more!
We start each morning with an overview of the day, and then proceed to the house and senate to monitor procedures, get a (free!) lunch, and then begin testifying and watching bills in their respective committee rooms in the afternoon.
There is much to see and learn about, so if you have questions about future dates, opportunities that are available, or concerns you may have do not hesitate to reach out to meaarp@aarp.org
If you are interesting in joining TASH, and are new to the world of Advocacy, please register at one of the links below, and email meaarp@aarp.org with the subject heading "New TASH Volunteer" to ask questions and get more information!
