Join us for upcoming free document shredding events!
Keep your sensitive documents out of the hands of identity thieves.
Your documents will be shredded on-site, free of charge. Volunteers will be available to assist so you won’t even need to get out of your vehicle.
Our next event is in Bangor, Maine, on Friday, April 24th, 2026.
The event runs from 9AM - 1PM, and is located at the Bangor Airport Mall on Union Street.
AARP Maine hosts free, in-person document-shredding events at several locations throughout the year to help Mainers securely dispose of personal papers and prevent identity theft. These events feature on-site, contact-free shredding, allowing you to drive up and have your documents destroyed on the spot.
What papers should you consider bringing to this event? Anything with sensitive information such as your Social Security number, date of birth or home address. Things like old tax returns, financial statements, credit card offers or similar documents would all be considered sensitive.
Please note that our shred events are popular and you may have to wait a short time as we welcome and assist each event participant. Our volunteers are on hand to provide assistance and we look forward to seeing you!
