As financial scams continue to rise and evolve, AARP Louisiana is bringing trusted experts directly to the community to help residents stay informed and protected.
On Wednesday, April 8 at 10 a.m. CST, AARP Louisiana will host a statewide Fraud Telephone Town Hall featuring representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The interactive event will provide participants with the latest information on scams and practical tips to help protect themselves and their loved ones.
The conversation will include insights from FBI Supervisory Special Agents Clinton Epperson and Krista Bradford, who specialize in complex financial crimes and fraud investigations.
During the Telephone Town Hall, experts will break down some of the most common and emerging scams impacting communities today, including:
Participants will also learn how scams like “pig-butchering” work—a growing scheme where criminals build trust over time before convincing victims to invest in fraudulent opportunities.
Moderated by AARP Louisiana’s Advocacy Director, Andrew Muhl, the Telephone Town Hall is designed to be interactive, allowing participants the opportunity to ask questions and hear directly from federal experts in real time.
This event is part of AARP Louisiana’s ongoing Fraud Watch Network outreach, which focuses on educating communities across the state about how to recognize, avoid, and report scams.
The Telephone Town Hall is free and open to the public. Participants can join by phone and are encouraged to bring questions for the experts. To listen in, call toll-free at 855-962-1521. The event will also be livestreamed on the AARP Louisiana Facebook page.
