AARP Kansas State Director, Glenda DuBoise welcomes the City of Wichita as an AARP Age-Friendly Community.
“AARP Kansas is pleased to partner with Mayor Lily Wu and the Wichita City Council in this endeavor,” said DuBoise. “This designation will help equip Wichita with resources to assess the needs of older adults related to housing, transportation and access to other key services and develop innovative ways to serve this important population.”
As an Age-Friendly Community, Wichita will now have access to services including:
Members of the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities commit to an assessment process and cycle of continuous improvement. Steps include:
“AARP Kansas looks forward to walking alongside Wichita city leaders as they embark on this learning journey,” said DuBoise. “We believe this process will further empower people to choose how they live as they age.”
