More than 50 AARP Georgia volunteers and staff visited the State Capitol to meet with lawmakers and members of the Public Service Commission recently during two of three scheduled Lobby Days. The annual events are designed to build relationships with legislators, express concerns and questions, and advocate for laws that impact all Georgians, especially those 50 and older.
This year, the AARP team is advocating for legislation to address crypto kiosk fraud, support caregiving, and ensure affordable utilities. The volunteers and staff met with the Georgia Public Service Commission Chairman Jason Shaw, Vice Chair Lauren “Bubba” McDonald, Representatives Tangie Herring (D-145), Miriam Parris (D-142), Anissa Jones (D-143), Dale Washburn (R-144), Robert Dickey (R-134), and Senators David Lucas (D-26) and Larry Walker,III (R-20).
