Age-Friendly Network in Georgia Expanding

The Central Savannah River Area Regional Commission — which represents 13 counties — has joined the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities. It joins dozens of other localities across Georgia.

The nationwide network aims to help communities make enhancements that serve older adults, such as safer streets, improved transportation options, expanded community activities and key services.

The 13 counties in the Central Savannah region are home to about 500,000 residents. Georgia now counts more than 140 counties and communities in the nationwide network, the most of any state. For more on the Age-Friendly Network, see aarp.org/livable.
