The AARP Georgia staff recently welcomed their newest team member, Gabrielle Richardson as the associate state director of community engagement and outreach.
Gabrielle brings deep expertise in community engagement, program management, and stakeholder collaboration across public health, nonprofit, and community-based settings in Metro Atlanta and beyond. Her work centers on elevating community voices to design and implement initiatives that are accessible, culturally responsive, and aligned with health equity goals. She is driven by a commitment to strengthening communities, expanding access to essential resources, and empowering people to live full, connected lives.
Most recently, Gabrielle served as a Public Health Advisor at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), supporting the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program and the Colorectal Cancer Control Program. She previously held roles with YourTown Health, a nonprofit network of community health centers, and the Georgia Department of Public Health, contributing to large-scale initiatives that advanced health equity, community outreach, and systems-level collaboration. Across these roles, she worked closely with interdisciplinary teams, community partners, and external stakeholders to translate strategy into community-informed, measurable action.
Beyond her public sector experience, Gabrielle has partnered with small businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations to lead and design community-centered experiences through event operations and consulting. Whether supporting intimate neighborhood gatherings or large-scale community events, she is passionate about creating spaces that foster connection, collaboration, and shared purpose. At the core of her work is a belief that strong communities are built on trust, inclusion, and consistent engagement—a philosophy that aligns deeply with AARP’s mission to empower people to choose how they live as they age through advocacy, programs, and meaningful community connection.
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Gabrielle is an alumna of Spelman College and Morehouse School of Medicine and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Outside of work, she enjoys hosting her book club, spending time with her pets, and curating events that bring people together.
