AARP Georgia Welcomes New Advocacy Leader, Miriam Goodfriend
Proud Atlantan skilled with legislative strategy, training & relationship building.
The AARP Georgia team recently welcomed our new Associate State Director of Advocacy, Miriam Goodfriend, who joined team on January 20th.
Miriam served as Policy Director for Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia before joining AARP. Miriam is a highly mission-driven individual with over six years of experience in state and local advocacy. Her top skills include strategic planning, program management, legislative relations, and relationship building. In previous roles, she spearheaded high-impact lobby days and developed comprehensive training programs that empowered grassroots advocates to become influential community leaders in their own right.
Miriam has also served as an advocacy and awareness manager, an advocacy coordinator, and an advocacy intern across several other organizations, including the Georgia General Assembly. As a native Atlantan and proud Georgia State Graduate, her love for Georgia runs as deep as her roots.
Miriam has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Master of Public Administration in Public Policy from Georgia State University. Miriam was also a recipient of the 30 Under 30 Award for Nonprofits in Atlanta. Her competitive spirit carried her through college as a volleyball player, and now she loves spending time doing yoga and walking her dog.
