AARP Florida Welcomes Ellen Cohen to Executive Council as Fraud Prevention Expert

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — AARP Florida has appointed Ellen Cohen to its Executive Council, where she will serve in the newly established Fraud Prevention Expert position. This role strengthens AARP Florida's commitment to protecting older adults and communities from fraud, scams and financial exploitation.

Cohen brings more than 30 years of experience with the U.S. Department of Justice, including service as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and Chief of the Criminal Division's Northern Division. During her federal career, she prosecuted a wide range of white-collar crimes, including Ponzi schemes, access-device fraud, health care fraud and tax crimes, while also overseeing cases involving narcotics, violent crime, civil rights and firearms offenses.

"Ellen's extensive experience investigating and prosecuting fraud will help strengthen AARP Florida's efforts to educate consumers and protect Floridians from scams and financial exploitation," said Jeff Johnson, AARP Florida State Director. "Her expertise will be an invaluable asset to our Executive Council and the people we serve."

As a member of the Executive Council, Cohen will provide strategic guidance on fraud-related issues and support AARP Florida's ongoing fraud prevention and consumer education initiatives. The Executive Council is a team of volunteer leaders who help advance AARP's strategic priorities across the state.
