New measures can make voting easier
AARP Delaware thanks the Delaware House of Representatives for passing Senate Substitute 1 for Senate Bill 2 and Senate Substitute 1 for Senate Bill 3. These measures take important steps toward making voting simpler, more accessible, and more inclusive for older Delawareans.
For many older adults, barriers like limited mobility, transportation challenges, long lines, or difficulty navigating complex voting procedures can make it harder to participate in elections. These bills help address those challenges by expanding access to convenient voting options, streamlining processes, and ensuring that more voters can cast their ballots safely and independently.

AARP volunteers regularly hear from older residents who want to stay engaged in their communities and have their voices heard at the ballot box. By reducing obstacles and modernizing how elections are conducted, this legislation helps ensure that age is never a barrier to civic participation.
Thank you to our lawmakers for recognizing the importance of fair and accessible elections. I now urge the Delaware Senate to support these bills and move them forward. Strengthening access to voting not only benefits older adults, but also builds a more inclusive and representative democracy for everyone in our state.
