Grants Aim to Improve Local Communities
Five Delaware entities won AARP 2023 Community Challenge grants, aimed at helping make communities more livable for all ages. The grantees include:
- Nurses Nextdoor in Rehoboth Beach received $5,500 to provide transportation vouchers for adults who are unable to drive.
- The Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington won $15,000 to hire and train 10 residents to conserve 30 public artworks, many of which are in disrepair.
- Also in Wilmington, two organizations were awarded $20,000 to support “Open Streets” events that temporarily close city streets to vehicle traffic to create safe spaces for walking, biking and other activities.
