Delaware just took an important step toward making voting easier and more accessible—especially for older adults.
AARP Delaware thanks the Delaware House of Representatives for passing Senate Bill 2, the first step toward a Delaware constitutional amendment that would allow early in-person voting. The team also wants to thank our legislators for passing Senate Bill 3, which begins the process of guaranteeing the right to vote by absentee ballot without requiring an excuse.
Together, these measures would help make voting simpler, more convenient, and more inclusive for older Delawareans.
Expanding early voting and no-excuse absentee voting helps address these challenges by giving people more options to vote on their schedule, in ways that support independence and peace of mind.
AARP is a nonpartisan organization and does not endorse candidates. What we do support is voter engagement—helping older Americans use their voices and their votes to shape the issues that affect them.
I’m grateful to our lawmakers for recognizing the importance of fair and accessible elections. Now, I urge the Delaware Senate to support Senate Bills 2 and 3 and move them forward.
Strengthening access to voting benefits not only older Delawareans, but every generation that follows.
