The partnership between AARP Delaware and the Lambda Delta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., along with the Sigma Cares Foundation, developed through David Clayton, who is AARP Delaware’s Business Operation Analyst. In collaboration with Randy Johnson, President of the Sigma Cares Foundation, the two fraternity brothers recognized a shared commitment to supporting and positively impacting the residents of New Castle County.
What began as a strategic connection has developed into a collaborative partnership. Through joint efforts, AARP Delaware and the Lambda Delta Sigma Chapter have worked together to address community needs in New Castle County.
Several key initiatives have strengthened and sustained the partnership. AARP Delaware has served as a key sponsor of the Sigma Cares Annual Golf Outing, which supports our scholarship initiatives and advances educational opportunities for students in our community.
Additionally, AARP and the Lambda Delta Sigma Chapter have worked closely in the fight against fraud to host community shredding events, now in the third year.
The collaborative venture has led to concrete benefits for local residents, through programs that address real needs and provide direct support.
“As President of the Lambda Delta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., I value the opportunity to connect the organization where I am employed with the one I serve as a volunteer,” said David Clayton.
Both AARP Delaware and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. focus on purposeful service, community involvement, and practical outreach to address real issues.
Looking ahead, AARP Delaware has a plan to grow this partnership by increasing community programs, expanding service projects, and creating more opportunities for residents of New Castle County to participate and benefit. We will continue efforts to fight fraud, develop service opportunities, and uphold the guiding principles of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.: Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service.
