LIHEAP: Keeping Coloradans warm this winter
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded program that allocates money to low-income families for the purpose of helping pay utility bills. It may be able to help you with:
1. Bill payment assistance
2. Energy crisis assistance
3. Energy-related home repairs
On October 25, U.S. Senators John Hickenlooper and Michael Bennet applauded the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) announcement.
“No Coloradan should have to worry about keeping their home warm this winter,” Hickenlooper said. “LIHEAP keeps working families and seniors on a fixed income safe.”
"This assistance will make it easier for Coloradans to cover home energy costs this winter and help families and seniors stay warm,” Bennet said.
Colorado received over $54 million to assist low income families. Last season, LIHEAP helped around 77,500 low-income households in Colorado alone.
“Colorado families should not be forced to make impossible decisions between putting food on the table and heating their homes," Bennet says. "This assistance will make it easier for Coloradans to cover home energy costs this winter and help seniors stay warm."
