AARP Arizona Recognizes George Macedon for his Dedication and Commitment to Community Service
AARP Arizona selected George Macedon for his remarkable service, which has greatly benefited his community, reflected AARP’s vision and mission, and inspired other volunteers.
Mr. George Macedon has been selected by AARP, the nonprofit organization for people 50 and older, to receive the 2025 AARP Arizona Andrus Award for Community Service, the Association’s most prestigious and visible state volunteer award for community service.
AARP Arizona selected George Macedon for his remarkable service, which has greatly benefited his community, reflected AARP’s vision and mission, and inspired other volunteers. George’s commitment to the City of Chandler has yielded many highlights, including the support of programs such as Golden Neighbors that provide free household items to seniors living on fixed incomes. He sits on various boards where he lends his experience in non-profit leadership. He is a true leader in the community and follows our mantra of empowering people to choose how they live as they age.
The award will be formally presented to George at a ceremony in December during our annual volunteer appreciation luncheon.
“This award acts as a symbol to the public that we can all work together for positive social change,” says Dana Marie Kennedy, AARP Arizona State Director. “AARP has long valued the spirit of volunteerism, and the important contributions volunteers make to their communities, neighbors, and the programs they serve.”
Recipients across the nation were chosen for their ability to enhance the lives of AARP members and prospective members, improve the community in or for which the work was performed, and inspire others to volunteer.
