AARP Arizona Applauds Passage of House Bill 2764, A Milestone in Long-Term Care Reform

Phoenix, AZ – AARP Arizona applauds the bipartisan passage of House Bill 2764, a significant piece of legislation aimed at enhancing the safety, oversight, and quality of long-term care across Arizona. Introduced by Representative Dunn, H.B. 2764 is a historic milestone in long-term care reform. It passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support — 59 ayes to one no vote. The legislation protects the rights and well-being of residents, families, and care providers, through measures that expand safety standards, increase regulatory oversight, and elevate quality of care guidelines.

“House Bill 2764 addresses systemic issues in Arizona’s long-term care system by critically improving standards of care and enhancing regulatory oversight,” said Dana Marie Kennedy, AARP Arizona State Director.

AARP Arizona commends Representative Dunn for sponsoring this vital legislation and for his commitment to the health and safety of older Arizonans.

On April 8, 2024, Governor Hobbs signed H.B. 2764 into law, as a demonstration of our state’s dedication to improving long-term care facilities and ensuring transparency, safety, and quality care for all residents.
