I spent my Memorial Day weekend attending a wedding, taking a family bike ride, doing yard work and enjoying our first barbecue of the season. One thing I didn’t do: Hit up the Memorial Day sales that seemingly every retailer in America held.
Lucky for me — and for you, if you couldn’t find the time to shop over the long holiday weekend — there are plenty of merchants that are still looking for excuses to lower their prices on popular products.
“Memorial Day sales often extend beyond the weekend, as long as supplies last,” says Kimberly Palmer, a consumer expert with Nerdwallet. “So it’s definitely worth continuing to check back with retailers on any items you have your eye on.”
Here’s a look at some tempting post-holiday discounts I’ve found this week, based on conversations with shopping experts and checks of retailers’ websites and ads.
Up to $2,400 off kitchen appliances at Home Depot
You’ll find huge discounts on refrigerators and dishwashers at the Memorial Day sale that the home improvement retailer has extended through June 5. The savings on individual appliances vary, depending on how much you spend, but the discount can go up to $500 off a purchase of $3,000 or more.
Or, if you’re in the market for a whole suite of appliances, you can save up to $2,400 on select sets. For example, the markdown on a GE Stainless Steel package that includes a refrigerator, microwave, range and dishwasher was 46 percent off the regular price of $4,856.
30 percent off paint and 15 percent off paint supplies at Sherwin-Williams
If you’re looking to refresh your dated kitchen (or any other room in your house), stretch your budget by taking advantage of this discount, available through June 3, from paint supplier Sherwin-Williams. Not sure which color to choose? If you’re thinking resale value, a Zillow survey last year found that buyers preferred shades of gray in the kitchen, the living room and the bedroom.
30 percent off Le Vian Jewelry at Kay Jewelers
The sale, which runs through June 2, includes online-exclusive items as well as dozens of earrings, rings and necklaces that you can find in stores. The Le Vian Garden Party Diamond Bee Necklace, on sale for $769.99 (marked down from $1,099.99), could be a perfect complement to a sundress this summer.
Up to $250 off computers at Staples
The office retailer is selling a Lenovo IdeaPad 5i 2-in-1 laptop with Intel Core 5 Processor, 16 GB RAM and 512 GM SSD storage for $599.99 (regularly $849.99) through June 1 to in-store shoppers. The store is offering $150-$250 off more than a dozen other laptop and desktop computers as well, including models from ASUS and HP.
$25 men’s shorts and swimwear at American Eagle
Need a gift for your grandson? Whether they’re looking to upgrade their khaki game or want a new pair of trunks to hit the beach this summer, all men’s shorts and swim attire are $25 (regularly $39.95 to $59.95) through June 24.
