Key takeaways

  • Several national salon chains offer senior discounts, though eligibility ages and savings vary.
  • Most deals are available only at participating locations and may differ based on salon policies.
  • In some instances, older adults can save more by stacking senior discounts with coupons at checkout.

Depending on where you live, a haircut can set you back $10 to $90 — or more for women’s cuts at higher-end salons — not including tip. A lot goes into that range, including the stylist’s experience, type of salon, local cost of living and the state of your hair. The more you want done (say, color or braids), the more it costs.Several national hair salon chains offer senior discounts. They aren’t huge, but they do give you some savings. Hair salons may also offer coupons through a number of sources: local flyers, email lists, the salon’s app and social media. Because most salons are independently owned franchises, it’s a good idea to call ahead or check the chain’s app before you go.
