To save even more in May, look for in-store coupons and manufacturer rebates.

There are many things to love about the month of May. The weather is getting warmer, summer getaways are right around the corner and some great deals will be hitting the stores! Here is a roundup of what you will find on the list of best buys for the month of May.

Some spas will offer special packages and discounts for the entire month in honor of Mother’s Day. When booking, ask if slower days and times will mean a deeper discount. One of my favorite savings for spa deals are through massage schools. Students who are about to graduate need to get their required hours in by working on real people. I have found hour-long massages for as little as $30! Check your local area for massage schools to see what they offer. The same goes for manicures and pedicures. You can find these beauty treatments at a fraction of the cost by going to the advanced students at your local beauty school. These students are also about to begin their careers in the professional market, and all treatments are usually under supervision. It is a great way to splurge and save!

Mother’s Day is one of three times a year where you will find deals on perfumes and cosmetics by way of a free gift with a purchase. You won’t usually find department stores putting their cosmetics and perfumes on sale, but they will offer great gifts when you make a purchase. So, you can get a bigger bang for your beauty buck! In case you are wondering, the other two times are the holidays and Valentine’s Day.

May is National Barbecue Month, which works out perfectly since Memorial Day weekend is the kickoff to summer and barbecues. You may be able to find even lower prices on barbecues over Labor Day weekend, but the selection won’t be as vast. Look for perks that go beyond sales. Some stores will offer free assembly or take away your old grill.

There are two times during the year that you can find great sales on mattresses, and one of those times is this month, especially around Memorial Day weekend. You should find deals as low as half off. When buying a mattress, make sure you look at more than just the price tag. You want to compare warranties and return and exchange policies. Some stores require you to purchase their water-resistant cover — otherwise you can’t return the mattress. Also, you may be able to save a considerable amount by purchasing a floor sample. They will usually sanitize it before delivery.

New models for most appliances hit later in the year, with the exception of refrigerators. New models typically are introduced during spring and summer, so in May stores will lower their prices on prior-year models to make room for new designs. Energy Star appliances can help save money on your energy bills. Be sure to check the most efficient-rated appliances before making your purchase. Additionally, some gas and electric companies will offer credits and rebates for replacing your older refrigerator. And while we are talking appliances, don’t forget we are fast approaching the bridal season, which means you can find deals on small appliances for the kitchen.

Spring cleaning has come and gone, and consignment and thrift shops will have racks filled with fresh merchandise. Take advantage of like-new clothes and accessories straight from someone’s closet. You often can find items with their original price tags.

And finally, kicking off Mother's Day weekend is National Public Gardens Day to highlight the beauty of public gardens. Many beautiful, local gardens will be offering special events and celebrations for the entire family.
