Stanley recalled about 2.6 million mugs due to a burn hazard because the threads on the lid can shrink when exposed to heat, causing the lid to detach and potentially spill hot liquid on users, according to a Dec. 12 statement from the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The company received 91 reports worldwide of travel mug lids detaching during use, including 16 in the U.S. These incidents resulted in 38 burn injuries globally, including two in the U.S., and 11 injuries worldwide requiring medical attention.
