Veterans and active service members are eligible for a variety of deals and discounts during November, particularly on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.  

Here are details about the Veterans Day freebies, deals and savings available to veterans and active members of the military in 2022. Note that valid identification is often required to receive an offer.

Restaurants 

  • Applebee's: Service members and veterans can receive a free meal when dining in at participating locations on Veterans Day. 
  • Bob Evans: Veterans and service members can enjoy a free entrée from a select menu Nov. 11 when dining in. 
  • BJ’s Restaurant: Current and former military who dine in Nov. 11 may enjoy a free meal from a select menu.  
  • Caribou Coffee: Veterans, military members and their spouses can order a free hot brewed coffee on Veterans Day.  
  • Chili's: Veterans and active military can enjoy a free entrée from a list of seven options while dining in Nov. 11. 
  • Cotton Patch Café: A free chicken-fried steak or chicken-fried chicken is offered Nov. 11 to all veterans and active military members. 
  • Cracker Barrel: Veterans, active-duty military, and their guests may receive a free slice of double chocolate fudge Coca-Cola cake in store or online with any purchase. To redeem online, enter code VETSDAY22 at checkout on Nov. 11. Additionally, veterans and military members may take 25 percent off apparel and drinkware in stores and online.  
  • Denny's: A free Grand Slam Breakfast will be offered to veterans and military personnel on Veterans Day until noon.
  • Fogo de Chão: Military veterans and active-duty personnel may take 50 percent off their meal and 10 percent off food for up to three guests per military member. 
  • Golden Corral: All current and former members of the military may enjoy a free meal from 5 p.m. to closing Nov. 11. 
  • Hooters: Veterans may receive a free entrée from a Veterans Day menu while dining in with purchase of a beverage at participating locations.  
  • Huddle House : Current and former military members may receive a free MVP Breakfast Platter on Nov. 11.
  • Jeremiah’s Italian Ice: Former and active military personnel can receive a free small item off their menu on Veterans Day.  
  • McCormick & Schmick’s: Veterans and gold star families may order a half-priced entrée from a select menu Nov. 13.  
  • Perkins Restaurant and Bakery: Current and former service members may order a free Magnificent Seven meal Nov. 11.
  • Red Lobster: Veterans, active-duty military and reservists may order a free Walt’s Favorite Shrimp, Fries and Coleslaw meal between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Nov. 11. 
  • Smokey Bones: Veterans and active military may eat a free entrée from a select menu on when dining in Nov. 11.  
  • Starbucks: Veterans, military members and spouses can order a free tall hot brewed coffee or iced coffee on Nov. 11 at participating locations. 
  • Yard House: Veterans and active-duty military can order a free appetizer on Veterans Day. 

Shopping 

  • American Signature Furniture: Active and retired military members are eligible for 10 percent off their purchase of $999 or more on select items online and at participating stores. Discount also valid at Value City Furniture and Designer Looks.  
  • Aura: The cybersecurity company is offering military members, veterans and their families up to 50 percent off its protection plans after a two-week free trial.  
  • Bed Bath & Beyond: Veterans, active military and their spouses can receive a 25 percent discount on in-store purchases until Nov. 11. 
  • Dollar General: Active military, veterans and their immediate families can take 20% off their purchase between Nov. 10 and 13 after creating a Dollar General account.  
  • Food Lion: Current and former military members can save 10% on their in-store shopping before taxes on Veterans Day.  
  • HyVee: Many of the grocer's stores offer a free breakfast buffet Nov. 11 to veterans and active-duty military members. 
  • OfficeMax: Veterans and military members can take 20 percent off regular-priced items in-store only on Nov. 11. 
  • Publix: Veterans and their families can save 10 percent on groceries purchased in-store Nov. 11. 
  • Rack Room Shoes: U.S. military personnel and their families can receive a 20 percent discount on in-store purchases Veterans Day; every Tuesday, the military discount is 10 percent. 
  • True REST Float Spa: Active-duty and military veterans may receive a free flotation therapy session Nov. 11 
  • TOPS Market: All veterans and active-duty personnel may receive an 11 percent discount off their total purchase on Nov. 11.

Haircuts 

  • Great Clips: On Nov. 11 veterans and active service members can get a free hair cut or a coupon for a free cut to use later. Civilian customers who get a haircut on Veterans Day can also request a free haircut card to give to an active service member or veteran to redeem between Nov. 12 and Dec. 9.  
  • Sport Clips: Participating locations will provide free haircuts Nov. 11 to veterans and active duty servicemembers. Additionally, $2 from every haircut will be donated to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Help a Hero scholarship for veterans.

Travel 

  • 9/11 Museum in New York City: From Nov. 9 to Nov. 13, veterans and up to three guests may receive free admission. Advance registration is encouraged.  
  • Army Corps of Engineers Recreation Areas: No fees will be charged to the entire public on Veterans Day at its 2,850 recreation areas nationwide, excluding camping. Find the closest location to you.  
  • B&B for Vets: Participating inns are offering one free room Nov. 10 or 11 for military families to enjoy the holiday. 
  • Birmingham Zoo: Free admission is available to veterans, active military and five dependents from Nov. 11 through 13.  
  • Jefferson Lines: All current and former military members can travel for free on the bus service on from Nov. 11 to 23. Tickets must be obtained in person. 
  • Mount Vernon, Virginia: On Veterans Day, all military members and veterans get free entry to George Washington's former home on the Potomac River. 
  • National Parks: All national parks offer free admission for everyone on Veterans Day. Many historic sites are also served by the National Park Service. 
  • North Carolina Zoo: Free admission is available for military personnel, veterans and one guest between Nov. 7 and 13.  
  • Red Roof Inn: Military members and veterans may save 15% when they book and stay at a participating Red Roof Inn location between Nov. 1 and Dec. 30. 
  • San Antonio Zoo in Texas: Throughout November, the zoo will offer free admission to all military members, active or retired. Up to four immediate family members can receive 50 percent off admission. 
  • World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta: Military members can purchase up to 4 general admission tickets for 50% off between Nov. 4 and 13. Use promo code VETS2022 at check out.  
  • World War I Museum in Kansas City, Missouri: Admission to the museum and memorial is free for veterans and active duty military personnel between Nov. 11 and 13. General admission for the public is half-off.  
  • Word War II Museum in New Orleans: All veterans receive free admission to the museum on Veterans Day.
