Brooke Shields just turned 60, and she’s turning heads with her recent social media post.
The model-actress posed on the beach in a black bikini while sitting in a hammock to celebrate her birthday on May 31.
“Woke up today in paradise… and in a new decade of life! This is 60! Thank you for all of the birthday love,” Shields said on Instagram.
In a corresponding picture, Shields is smiling while looking back against a backdrop of trees, shrubs and white sand. In both images shared to Instagram, she is smiling and beaming with self confidence.
While speaking to AARP's The Girlfriend recently, the star talked about turning 60.
“You know, it’s a little harder than I thought because it just sounded so old when I was younger," she explained. “Sixty just sounded like an old lady. But then I got here and I feel so young and I feel so excited by the future. I also feel so much more relaxed about things that used to stress me that there’s a youthfulness to it.”
Shields shared that she wasn't going to have a big 60th-birthday celebration. "I'm not having a party, I'm not having a big dinner...(with people who don't know each other).... That just doesn't excite me," she said. Instead, she plans to travel with friends throughout the year to celebrate her milestone birthday. Shields recently appeared on the March/April 2024 issue of AARP: The Magazine. In her interview, she discussed being in the spotlight and aging.
“You have to change the narrative,” she said. “It’s an affront to people if Brooke Shields gets older. You can’t grow up, you cannot age. It’s disappointing to them that I don’t have the same face I had when I was 16. But it’s been so liberating for me not to worry about it all the time.

“The pressure of being skinny is just so exhausting,” she continued. “I like food, and I like tequila! [Laughs.] If I have a job to do, I know that I’m going to look better if I’m a little fitter. But I also look younger when I have extra weight. What was it Catherine Deneuve said? At a certain age, you have to choose between your face and your ass.”
