Anticipated publication date: Fall 2026 (Avid Reader Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster)
Have you ever left a doctor’s office feeling no more knowledgeable — and perhaps even more confused — than when you went in? Appointments can feel hurried and frustrating, with both doctors and patients struggling to communicate in their allotted minutes.
As he entered the third decade of his practice, having built an extensive network of professional colleagues, Adam Rosenbluth, M.D., who has a family practice in New York City and teaches cardiology at Mount Sinai, found himself imagining this fantasy scenario: What if he could gather all his patients and all the specialists he knows in one place to have a giant roundtable discussion about health? Bit by bit, to travel through this miraculous human body, examining each system, asking questions, revealing wisdom and uncovering all those details that doctors these days don’t have time to go over in the course of a normal office visit?
If My Patients Only Knew: What Your Doctors Want You to Know About Your Health — But Don’t Have Time to Tell You brings that imagined scenario to life. You will gain knowledge from medical experts who will both teach you about the workings of your body and help you achieve optimal health today, tomorrow and for the rest of your life. You don’t need your doctor to tell you to watch your weight, get adequate sleep each night and avoid smoking. You know that! What Rosenbluth offers is specific, surprising, doctor-tested tips from top specialists in their fields, compassionate physicians who prioritize the well-being and comfort of their patients.
Perhaps even more important, Rosenbluth also offers specific advice for getting what you need when you see a doctor, whether it’s your primary care physician or a specialist. And he provides pointers on how to advocate for yourself in our fast-paced and complex health care system. With the help of his peers, he coaches you on what doctors know about working within the health care system, so you become a savvy participant in your own health care journey and make the process work for you. No more confusing visits, no more unanswered questions. Just an enriched understanding of the body and a clear path to excellent health.
